Fujitsu Launches MetaArc, Its Digital Business Platform

Delivering six mobile and IoT products and services, led by K5 cloud service

Tokyo, September 29, 2015 - Fujitsu today announced its FUJITSU Digital Business Platform MetaArc, which incorporates cutting-edge cloud, mobile, big data, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Facilitating customers' digital innovation, Fujitsu will from today offer an initial lineup of six new MetaArc products and services, led by FUJITSU Cloud Service K5.

MetaArc integrates the systems of engagement (SoE) that enable customers' digital transformations, such as business process innovations and the creation of new businesses, and systems of record (SoR), which are existing information systems, including mission critical systems, on a single platform.

Through its own internal use of MetaArc, Fujitsu is continually working to improve its functionality and quality. Since February 2015, in addition to the migration of its own systems to K5, Fujitsu has proceeded with deployments for such front-line units as system engineering, software development, and Fujitsu Laboratories.

Based on this experience and knowhow, MetaArc, as well as FUJITSU Knowledge Integration, an innovation concept for driving the digital business era announced in May, Fujitsu enables connections between people, data, and infrastructure that transcend conventional company or industry frameworks, thereby helping corporate customers create new value and enhance their competitiveness.

Fujitsu is positioning MetaArc as its global platform, and after first launching in Japan, the Fujitsu Group will steadily roll it out to Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania.

About the New Products and Services

1. FUJITSU Cloud Service K5 (new)

K5 is a new cloud service that combines the latest open technologies with Fujitsu's system engineering knowledge and expertise. It offers a number of functions, beginning with automated system construction functionality that improves flexibility, as well as application platform functionality that simplifies the creation of links between the SoE and SoR systems, and PaaS functionality for component services and templates for specific businesses and industries. Furthermore, it also provides IaaS functionality, applicable to many types of systems, through security group functionality and multi-availability zones which offer physically independent environments within a data center.

This service is offered in four configurations to meet customers' business and system requirements:

K5 and PRIMEFLEX for Cloud Configuration

2. FUJITSU Integrated System PRIMEFLEX for Cloud, a vertically integrated virtualization and private cloud platform (new model)

Fujitsu has expanded its offering for virtualization and private cloud environments by adding a new variant of PRIMEFLEX for Cloud using architecture identical to that of K5. In addition to rapid deployment and stable operation of virtualization and private cloud environments, PRIMEFLEX for Cloud realizes interoperability of application assets and data between cloud services.

3. FUJITSU Software Interstage Application Server high-density work consolidation middleware, six products (enhanced functionality)

These products offer functionality for high-density aggregation with a multi-tenant environment to carry out customer system-based online business, batch operations and database operations, along with operations management functionality to efficiently utilize such resources as memory and CPU.

Through these methods, Fujitsu has achieved multi-tenant aggregation while keeping availability and peak usage in mind, as well as enhanced efficiency and cost reductions for cloud migration.

4. FUJITSU Cloud Service MobileSUITE, mobile usage platform service (enhanced functionality)

In addition to existing mobile applications, content, and device management functions, Fujitsu will newly add push notifications, storage, voice recognition and other general functions that can be used with mobile application development, as well as system linkage API management and API gateway and other functions as a Business System Linkage Option, in order to efficiently connect customers' business systems with mobile applications. This will help to realize a transformation in work styles through the further use of smart devices.

5. FUJITSU Cloud Service IoT Platform, IoT data usage platform service (enhanced functionality)

To FUJITSU Cloud Service IoT Platform, a cloud service for collecting and using a variety of sensor data, Fujitsu has now added new Dynamic Resource Controller Functionality. By automatically controlling all of the data processing resources deployed across a wide area network, this functionality can maintain an optimal service operation status in response to changes in the usage environment. This functionality incorporates world-first technologies, such as an algorithm that rapidly calculates the optimal disposition of each resource, providing stable real-time services without need for case-by-case responses to the unique issues that arise with IoT, such as the sudden surges in communications volume which can occur in large-scale IoT systems.

6. Three Hybrid IT Services products, managed services (new)

Fujitsu has systematized its tailored lifecycle services offerings, from planning, design and migration to operation, as Hybrid IT Services, offered for a wide range of systems, from on-premises to cloud-based. Using unique standardized methods based on experience developed through improving system operation for over 600 companies, Fujitsu will automate migration and operations and also employ templates to build optimized hybrid environments and globally support one-stop operations, from infrastructure to applications.
